DEHLER D38 – INTERIOR FOR A SAILING YACHT
The right balance of elegance and maximum functionality
STUDIOSYN develops the bathroom, table and companionway of the Dehler D-38 from Hanse Yacht AG honored by judel / vrolijk.
The requirements on the interior of a performance sea yacht are diverse. It does not only have to look good in the harbor, but also prove itself on the open sea during stormy weather. The interior components designed by STUDIOSYN like the bathroom for the new Dehler 38 unite elegant design with maximum functionality.
The spacious bathroom launched by Dehler is completely new in the yacht branch. The connecting passageway between the lounge and the aft cabin is part of the bathroom. A completely new spatiality is thus created for the bathroom with separate toilet/shower rooms which is unusually large for this class.
The Dehler traditional shipyard is well-known for its fast ships and clever detailed solutions. Even the new spacious bathroom stands for intelligent use of space. The functionality was always at center stage for the STUDIOSYN designers. As a result, the bathroom features many practical and seaworthy storage areas. This can be seen on the exterior wall of the bathroom which borders directly on the companionway. An open “swallow’s nest” is used as a storage area for things like amplitude compass and binoculars as well as sunscreen and sunglasses.
Inside, functionality is also the key. A large hollowed-out storage area integrated into the washstand can hold all types of utensils which cannot fall out of the hole due to the deep recession even in rough seas and a 30° heel. The shelves and cupboards across from the washstand are just as practical. The renderings show how functionality and elegance are combined. “With our design, we want to take the elegant lining of the hull and put it into the interior”, was the credo of the STUDIOSYN designers who used their experience as recreational or competitive sailors for this project. This was realized with a newly-developed washstand that not only looks good; due to its gentle shape, it also reduces the risk of injury on rough seas. The cut of the washstand is also seen in the doors. The materials of the hull are also found there, paired with a fine blend of wood. The band of mirrors running along three sides also makes the bathroom appear larger.

Functionality down to the last detail. The lounge table was also designed by STUDIOSYN. The practical bottle pullout can also be used when the table is set and plates, bowls and silverware would make access from above difficult.
